Turkey’s first integrated operator Türk Telekom continues to reap the fruits of brand unification

Unifying all brands under a single roof in January 2016, Türk Telekom has once again become Turkey’s most valuable brand. Increasing its brand value by 11% to $2.6 billion, Türk Telekom has been named as Turkey’s most valuable brand on the list of “Turkey’s Most Valuable Brands Turkey 100”, which is published annually by international brand valuation company Brand Finance.

Becoming ‘Turkey’s most valuable telecommunications brand’ for 9 years on ‘Telecoms 500’ list of Brand Finance determining the top 500 telecoms brands in the world, Türk Telekom is now also selected Turkey’s most valuable brand once again, proving itself as Turkey’s ‘leading information and communication technologies brand.”

Recalling that Türk Telekom has become Turkey’s most valuable brand seven more times previously, Türk Telekom CEO Doany said: “We have successfully realized one of the Turkey’s largest brand transformations. Last year, we gained 1.5 million net subscribers, marking the highest ever subscriber addition since IPO in 2008 and broke a record in the history of Türk Telekom. I wholeheartedly celebrate big Türk Telekom family of 34 thousand people who are employed in all corners of Turkey and made great contribution to this success. Turkey’s leading communication and entertainment technologies company Türk Telekom has been named as Turkey’s most valuable brand for the 8th time on the list of “Turkey’s Most Valuable Brands Turkey 100”, which is published annually by international brand valuation company Brand Finance. Having unified its mobile, internet, phone and TV services under the roof of a single brand in January 2016, Türk Telekom continues to reap the fruits of this unification. In the research of UK-based Brand Finance conducted for “Turkey’s Most Valuable Brands Turkey 100” list, it is determined that Türk Telekom has increased its brand value from $2,353 million to $2,620 million in 2016 and has become Turkey’s most valuable brand. Ranked at the top on Brand Finance list of Turkey’s top companies list ‘Turkey 100’, Türk Telekom’s brand value increased by more than 11% in 2016. Thus, the company has become Turkey’s most valuable brand by reaching all time high brand value with $2.6 billion.

In addition to becoming Turkey’s ‘Most Valuable Telecommunications Brand’ for 9 years on ‘Telecoms 500’ list of Brand Finance determining the top 500 telecoms brands in the world, Türk Telekom has once again proven itself to be Turkey’s ‘leading information and communication technologies brand” for also being Turkey’s most valuable brand.

1.5 million net subscriber addition with single brand synergy

Brand Finance’s ‘Turkey 100’ research emphasizes Türk Telekom’s synergy created with its brand unification, while it also underlined the new customer additions and increased cross-sell opportunities with its new products and services. It noted that all these developments positively influenced future projections of the company as well as increasing its brand value.

Noting that the positive outcomes of the brand unification is unlocked everyday, Türk Telekom CEO Dr. Paul Doany said: “We have successfully realized one of Turkey’s largest brand transformations. ‘Telecoms 500’ list, which is prepared annually by international brand valuation company Brand Finance and includes the most valuable telecommunication brands in the world, is published at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. According to ‘Telecoms 500’ 2017 list, Türk Telekom has become ‘Turkey’s most valuable telecommunications brand’ for the 9th time. Türk Telekom has once again proven itself to be Turkey’s “leading telecommunication brand” with this success.

Türk Telekom CEO Dr. Paul Doany said they have broken a historic record with their brand value thanks to the contribution of Turkey’s biggest brand transformation. Türk Telekom Investor Relations ranked 1st in two categories including the “Best Investor Relations Website” and “Best Public Disclosure of Financial Results” at Investor Relations Awards Ceremony organized by the Turkish Investor Relations Society (TÜYİD). Türk Telekom Group also ranked 3rd in “Best Annual Report” category. The three awards granted by TÜYİD represent an outstanding success.

The leading telecommunications and convergence technologies company, Türk Telekom Group, won awards in three categories after the assessment conducted among the companies included in the Borsa Istanbul 100 Index. The prizes were presented during the Investor Relations Awards Ceremony organized by TÜYİD for the second time.

At the ceremony held on November 24, 2015 in Istanbul, Investor Relations website of Türk Telekom Group was again selected as the “Best Investor Relations Website” of the year. Türk Telekom Group also ranked 1st in “Best Public Disclosure of Financial Results” and 3rd in the “Best Annual Report” categories.

The assessment was based on a comprehensive ranking system created by KPMG Turkey—an expert audit, tax and consultancy Company specializing in the field of assessment. Companies were assessed in terms of public disclosure of financial results, investor relations website and annual reports. CEO of Borsa Istanbul, Chairperson of TSPB (Turkish Capital Markets Association) and Vice President of TUSIAD (Turkish Industry and Business Association) attended the event alongside the investor relations professionals of Turkey’s leading companies.

Türk Telekom Group had ranked first in “Best Investor Relations Website”, second in “Best Public Disclosure of Financial Results”, and fourth in “Best Annual Report” categories under the previous year’s assessment.

At the "2014 Achievement Awards" organized by EMEA Finance, Türk Telekom Group was awarded ‘Best Corporate Bond in Europe, Middle East and Africa’ with its US$1bn eurobond issuance.

EMEA Finance commented as:

“Our winning corporate issuance from EMEA came from Türk Telekom, which closed a US$1bn deal in its first visit to the international markets last summer.Türk Telekom issued US$500mn in five year bonds with a coupon of 3.75% and US$500mn in 10 year bonds with a coupon of 4.875%.” 

Onur Oz, the director of capital markets and investor relations, told EMEA Finance that:

At the time that the traditional banking sources of funding had been “very strong” but that the Management team wanted to branch into the debt capital markets to add some diversity. The order book reached US$8bn following a five day roadshow taking in London, Los Angeles, Boston and New York. Deutsche Bank, Barclays, BNP Paribas, JP Morgan and Emirates NBD ran the deal.”​​​

Türk Telekom, Turkey’s leading communications and convergence technologies company, won top awards among BIST-100 companies publicly traded in Borsa Istanbul at the first Investor Relations Awards organized by Turkish IR Society (TUYID). Turkey’s first Investor Relations Summit organized by Turkish IR Society (TÜYİD) was held in December 11, 2012, with the pioneering role of Türk Telekom Investor Relations. Over 100 professionals from investor relations, brokerage houses and fund management companies attended the event which was held in cooperation with Turkish IR Society.

In the summit, panels were held about communication tools for investor Relations, international investor relations management and effective investor targeting, where Onur Öz, Türk Telekom Capital Markets and Investor Relations Director , was among the panelists. The panels were followed by a coctail reception with a keynote speech by ISE Chairman Dr. İbrahim Turhan.
